How Our 3D Printing Works

At DKRO Labs, every item is printed with care, curiosity, and a whole lot of late-night creativity. We want you to know exactly how your product is made—from the moment you place an order to the moment it ships from our family workshop.

Here’s a look behind the scenes.

1. It All Starts With an Idea

Some designs begin as sketches on scrap paper. Others come from our kids’ suggestions, customer requests, or nostalgic fandoms we love (looking at you, TRON fans).

Every model is created in-house using digital 3D design tools. This is where we choose shapes, details, and structural features to make each piece functional, durable, and fun to use.

2. From Digital Model to Printer

Once the design is ready, it’s prepared for printing using special software that slices the model into hundreds—or thousands—of thin layers.

We load the file onto one of our 3D printers and choose the perfect material and settings for the job. Most of our products are made from PLA, an eco-friendly, plant-based plastic that’s lightweight, strong, and great for detailed prints.

3. Layer by Layer Magic

3D printing works by heating filament and laying it down one thin layer at a time—kind of like piping icing on a cake, but much more precise.

Depending on the design, a print can take anywhere from 15 minutes to several hours. More complex pieces may print in multiple parts that we assemble later.

Each print is monitored for quality from start to finish.

4. Cleanup and Finishing Touches

After printing, each piece is carefully removed from the build plate. We then clean up any small strings, support marks, or rough edges by hand.

Some items need additional assembly, hardware, polishing, or color changes to bring out the final look. Everything is checked for strength, accuracy, and overall appearance.

5. Packaged With Care

Once your order is ready, we package it securely so it arrives safely.
Each item is wrapped with care, labeled, and prepared for shipping from our home workshop.

If your purchase is a gift, feel free to let us know—we’re happy to add a personalized note.

6. Made to Order, Just for You

Because everything is printed when you order it, each piece is unique. Small variations or tiny imperfections are a normal and expected part of the 3D printing process—no two prints are ever 100% identical.

Your order isn’t pulled off a shelf.
It’s made specifically for you.

Why We Love This Process

3D printing lets us create meaningful, imaginative, one-of-a-kind items without waste or mass production. It allows our family to bring fun ideas to life, experiment constantly, and build a shop filled with items that make people smile.

Thanks for supporting our small business and being part of our creative journey.
